The United States of America, the first modern nation and inspiration for the world, in many ways the greatest nation in history, seems to be in decline. This blog is not about who to blame. The Policy Ideas section of this site envisions a revitalized United States and suggests reforms designed to renew the American dream for future generations.
The United States, as powerful as it still is, is in a tight spot. We have been borrowing, not to invest, but to spend at unsustainable levels. Our intellectual, working, and political classes no longer trust and support each other. Other nations, noticing our decline, are challenging our interests around the world and even here at home.
The blog has two main parts. Policy Ideas are specific suggestions about how to deal with specific issues. Additional Policy Ideas may be added from time to time. The Blog contains posts about random things that interest JOI. There is also a page of Links (some of which no longer work) to other interesting sites. JOI hopes you find something here worthwhile.
